Kansas - More Wind

Stats Tuesday, August 31 – Dighton to Lyons. Day distance 127.8; ride time 7 h 51m; ave speed 16.24; total climb 773; total miles 1986.6

Well, another day in Kansas. More wind. Straight out of the south. What makes our day interesting is seeing the farm equipment, over-sized loads on trucks, and making jokes about the wind. We have a few suggestions for wind related names of towns and cities in Kansas. Here are a few in semi-alphabetical order.

Breezy, Blowing Plains, Bad Hair Day, Cyclone, Damaging, Eternal, Gale, Gusty, Memorable, Straightline, Swirling, Variable, Whirlwind.

Names such as these could qualify. We rode through the small town of “Gas.” A bank was there named “Bank of Gas.”

Two creeks a hundred miles apart had the names of “White Woman Creek” and “Bachelor Creek.” I guess that is why they were a hundred miles apart.

Yup. It was another day in Kansas.
