I am trashed today. Any little climb just takes it out of me. I wonder why (147 miles yesterday!) But Mickey seems to be doing quite well. We intended to make it to Panguitch, UT. But having eaten lunch in Beaver (right on I-15) I tell Mickey, “I don’t think I can do Panguitch today." So we got a beautiful campsite at a KOA.
I went into town and did laundry. While the wash was going I went to Mel’s “World Famous Drive-In” and got a strawberry shake. Then I went to the local grocery store and downed three yogurts. Supper was two baked potatoes. All this was after a foot long veggie patty at Subway. Food is really important.
In Utah we notice there are no rumble strips. Rumble strips help us to audibly negotiate traffic behind us. Rumble strips may be located only in the center line or both at the center line and on the shoulders. We think the rumble strips help all those drunk Nevadans stay between the lines after a night of hard gaming and gambling at the casinos. Seriously, so far, we have not found anybody nicer or more friendly than Nevada people.
For us when we hear tires over rumble strips that usually means that the driver is compensating swerving away from us. If we hear two rumble strips that means the driver has merged completely into the left lane. If we don’t hear a rumble strip – hang on – it’s going to be close. And we’ve had some drivers who make no adjustment to avoid us!
If we hit a rumble strip it about shakes loose our teeth. But we like to hear them from vehicles behind us.
Now in Utah, no more rumble strips. But then again, there are not casinos!
There is a great sermon illustration here! Not sure what, but I know it's there.
